BenchMix programmable lab mixerIs Admix equipment like the BenchMix lab mixer scalable?
Absolutely. All Admix equipment is scalable, and we consider many more scaling parameters than just traditional horsepower per unit volume. Our evaluations are detailed and we are so confident in our scaling that we provide a process assurance warranty with every quote. We are happy to work with your R&D department to define lab scale testing that precisely matches plant performance with existing production equipment.

Your mixers are marketed as CIP and 3-A compliant, meeting even the toughest food industry standards. But how easy is "easy-to-clean" for us in the pharmaceutical world?
All our equipment is designed with CIP processes in mind. For pharmaceutical processes we go further, expecting SIP to also occur. We follow cGxP methods for design and manufacturing, along with ASME-BPE codes to provide simple-to-clean equipment. Furthermore, we often work with end users to implement the most successful cleaning protocols.

What's the difference between a Rotosolver high shear mixer and a traditional rotor/stator?
The Rotosolver offers a unique blend of high shear and high flow, often replacing the need for secondary agitation in a vessel using a rotor/stator mixer. Except in the most extreme emulsification processes, the energy-saving Rotosolver can replace traditional high horsepower rotor/stator mixers, which require more power. The capital, operating and maintenance costs are all lower as a result.

Rotosolver mixers have been used on vessels well over 5,000 gallons. Our teams are always aware of maximum volume flexibility and minimum heel volumes (waste) for a process and consider smaller vessels with rapid process times or the installation of an inline high shear mixer to ensure all product receives the necessary mixing energy.

The RotoMAXX II uses a unique bearing frame assembly with a helical bevel gear reducer to handle tank volumes of 60,000 gallons and beyond. With a broad range of available speed ratios and in-house design and fabrication of impellers, we determine the best combination to meet your existing needs and to handle future process and recipe changes without requiring complete equipment replacement.


DynaShear inline disperser
We run product through multiple passes in a high pressure homogenizer, but still can't filter out lumps and fisheyes. Is there a better way?
For inline continuous processing, the DynaShear inline disperser and Boston Shearmill inline homogenizer provide tight emulsions. Typical droplet size with the DynaShear is 2-3 microns and as fine as 0.5 microns with the Boston Shearmill.Boston Shearmill Inline Homogenizer

These workhorses break down tough fisheyes in a single pass, and deagglomerate a fluid stream to save filter cleaning and wasted raw material. Designed to run 24/7, both DynaShear and the Boston Shearmill meet 3-A sanitary standard #36-01.

Rotomixx Portable AgitatorWe need simple tank agitation at various volumes. What does Admix offer?
The Rotomixx and RotoMAXX II both offer in-tank agitation in all stainless steel construction. Rotomixx is a portable batch mixer and the RotoMAXX II low-shear agitator can accommodate volumes up to 60,000 gallons. Both provide simple blending for miscible fluids, solids incorporation and dispersion; can maintain suspensions; and meet 3-A standard #73-01.

Rotosolver High Shear Batch MixerWhile dispersing hard-to-wet powders for pill coatings, how can I avoid rafting on the top of the vessel?
The Rotosolver high shear batch mixer combines good product motion and intense mixing vortex control with efficient pumping blades to break down agglomerates and reduce rafting. It is easy-to-clean, CIP, and meets 3-A sanitary standard #73-01.

We manufacture therapeutic creams and lotions that depend on stable, tight emulsions. What type of mixing equipment to you recommend?
The Rotostat rotor-stator mixer provides bulk tank motion without any in-tank bearing frame or supporting arms to block product flow. Its high shear properties mechanically break down solids (like wax) used to give body to many creams, without requiring elevated temperature to melt these solids.

Our R&D team is constantly developing new formulas and experimenting with production methods. Does Admix have lab equipment and scale-up services?
Yes! The BenchMix programmable high shear lab mixer can be configured with Rotomixx, Rotosolver and Rotostat heads for the greatest flexibility and accurate scale-up to full production. We also offer free ingredient testing in our 5,000 square foot pilot lab and a process assurance warranty.

I need to improve how I incorporate powders, but not at the expense of operator safety. How can you help me?
The VacuShear system inducts powders or liquids under vacuum, providing high shear mixing for immediate powder dispersion, and vacuum deaeration for the best finished product. Where air entrainment is not a concern, our powder induction line-up of Optifeed, PIC and Fastfeed powder induction and dispersion system provide inline, continuous powder dispersion at controlled feed rates up to 450 lbs/minute.

In addition, the Fastfeed system inducts all powders and liquids directly into the liquid stream while it is filling your blend tank. This means that you eliminate multiple premix/side batches that entrain air, waste time, create inconsistent batches, require operators to dump bags from elevated decks, and create dust clouds. 

Batch times are typically cut in half and operator injuries are reduced. Gone are the dust plumes from powder being dumped into an open top tank, and air entrainment is eliminated too, since mixing takes place inline rather than in an open top tank.
